Pomegranate Martini

It's Friday and five O'clock somewhere.

You'll need simple syrup for this. It's a handy thing in general for cocktail making. Put 2 parts sugar together with 1 part water and heat over medium heat just until the sugar disolves. Cool and put in a container for future use.

1/4 cup vodka

1/4 cup pomegranate juice (POM for example)

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1/2 tablespoon of the simple syrup

Shake over ice. Strain into martini glass and float a thin slice of lemon on top.

How do you feel about a sugared rim?
(wipe with lemon juice and then, sugar it)

Yes, that's definitely something to do. If you have grenadine or maraschino cherry juice you can use that to moisten the rim. When it dries it creates something like a rock candy effect. Especially if you use the dcorative sugars that are used for cookies and such.
